Welcome to the Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom A Call from the Depths guide showing how to complete the quest starting with the statue asking, “I am trapped…under the water…behind the stone gate…of the great plateau…”.
Refer to the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Guide for more tips on the game.
A Call from the Depths
Quest Hint
The hint for this questline is received either from the statue in the Temple of Time on the surface, or from the Bargainer Statue under the Great Abandoned Central Min in the Depths. They both say, “I am trapped…under the water…behind the stone gate…of the great plateau…”
Quest Start
Start off by fast travelling to the Kamizun Shrine or the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower and work your way to the wall surrounding the plateau (east of the Great Plateau North Chasm). Next, toss a bomb or use a rock fused to a weapon to open up the rocks blocking the gate. After the cutscene, run through the gate and interact with the statue. Then, return to the Temple of Time and interact with the statue to officially start the quest.
Dropping the East Eye
Now we will drop 4 statue eyes down chasms surrounding the plateau. Firstly, travel to the Great Plateau East Chasm and destroy boulders to reveal the eye. Then, toss the eye down the chasm. Before moving on, wait for the notification that the quest updated.
Dropping the North Eye
Next, travel to the Great Plateau North Chasm and use Ultrahand to pull the eye out of the stream and drop it down the nearby chasm.
Dropping the West Eye
Then, work your way to the Great Plateau West Chasm. Once there, use fire to melt the ice on the north side of the chasm and toss it in the chasm.
Dropping the South Eye
Continue on to the Great Plateau South Chasm. Use Recall to rewind the debris next to the chasm, making sure you send it far enough in the sky that it won’t crush you while grabbing the eye. Then, toss the eye in the chasm and jump in after it.
Returning the South Eye
Note: From this point on, you need to fully return an eye to the statue before starting on the next one or else it will reset costing you precious time.
Since we’re at the south chasm, we will start here. Grab the eye and throw it to the west, down a short drop and again down a long drop and carry it to the mine cart stop. Next, attach a fan and battery to the cart and ride it to the Central Mine. Then, take the elevator to the top and place the eye into the statue. You need to rotate the eye to align with the statue (the game is sensitive with what it will allow here). Before moving on, make sure the notification for the quest updates.
Returning the West Eye
Now, fast travel to the Koradat Lightroot and glide to the west chasm, taking the eye up the elevator. Next, use the pre-assembled mine cart to take it back to the last mine stop. At this point, attach the eye to the cart and move the whole thing over to the set of rails used on the south chasm’s eye. Make sure you replace the battery before returning to the statue with the eye.
Returning the East Eye
Next, travel to the east chasm and carry the eye to the device build location. From there, build or fast build a fan plane with a control stick. Then, carry the plane to where the track first starts to dip and fly it over to the Central Mine.
Returning the North Eye
Next, fast travel to the Nogukoyk Lightroot and build a small land machine behind it (pictured below). Then, take your time driving back to the Central Mine while avoiding (or carefully watching) grass patches which likely contain bombs. If your battery depletes either use Zonai Charges or wait for it to recharge.
After all eyes are returned to the Bargainer Statue, you will receive a container (heart/stamina) and have access to purchase more gear for the Depths.
