Welcome to the Mortal Shell 2 achievements and trophies guide. This guide covers all 53 achievements/trophies available in the base game at launch.

Game Stats

  • Difficulty: 7.5/10
  • Time to Completion: 50-90 hours
    • 1st Playthrough: 40-70 hours
    • 2nd Playthrough: 6-12 hours
    • 3rd Playthrough: 3-6 hours.
  • Does Difficulty Affect Achievements/Trophies?: Yes. Avoid using the Slayer Seal that makes the game easier and disables achievements and trophies.
  • Missable Achievements/Trophies: Yes. The first 2 are located in the prologue and can be quickly obtained in a new game slot. The 3rd requires you to do 7 perfect guards during a specific attack with a mid-game boss.
  • Bugged Achievements/Trophies: Yes. The Day 1 patch reportedly contains 2 bugged achievements:

General Tips

  • Go into Game Settings and enable Auto Pick Up Gold. It will make exploration easier.
  • Use the Gloom Siphon periodically when you return to Marrowkeep to gain more Gloom.
  • Don’t spend Glimpse on anything except Shell Bonding. You need as much of it as you can get.
  • Don’t purchase maps. Any location you need can be found online.
  • Make sure you grab the Tarcores after each Tarstone upgrade.
  • Upgrade all Tarstones to level 2 and limit the level 3 upgrades.
  • It’s recommended you max out the bond with Proxima, Tiel, and Genessa during your 1st playthrough.

Prologue

Mid Summer

5G – Enter the Festival

Warning: This achievement/trophy is easily missed. If you do miss it, just start a new save in another slot and quickly grab it.

When you reach the festival area where the NPCs are dancing, talk with Marigold and accept the crown.

You’re More Than a Weapon

5G – Claim your first Shell, Weapon and Sidearm

Story achievement/trophy. This will unlock when you collect your first Shell during the Prologue.

Home at Last

5G – Reach Marrowkeep

Story achievement/trophy. This will unlock after you enter Marrowkeep at the end of the Prologue.

Endings

Bag Holder

5G – You’ve mastered nothing and this is your reward. Pretty pointless, eh?

Unlock the false ending by doing nothing. From the Gloomshade Grove Beacon, head to the southwest cliff south of the Citadel of Penance. Use the bone gate to jump to a small island where you will find Baghead. The goal is to do nothing, just like him.

  • Talk to Baghead.
  • Sit nearby.
  • Talk to Baghead and answer Yes to his questions.
  • Ignore his request to fetch him something.

Prologue Boss

No, You Still Can’t Win

50G – Take the Tar Golem to his Minimum Health

Warning: This achievement/trophy can be missed.

Near the end of the prologue, get the first boss, Tar Golem, down to his minimum health. After talking to Ruk and he says something is wrong, jump through the bone gate and be ready for a fight. Dodge the red attacks, try to parry and stagger him as much as possible. When he reaches low health, a cutscene will play.

If you die, close the game through the console dashboard or Alt-F4 on PC. It won’t autosave until after the cutscene. PC plays can also make a backup of their save.

Early Game Bosses

Wheelie Good Time

10G – Defeat Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods

Defeat Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods. She is located in the Glutted Mire gate.

Meat’s Back on the Menu, Boys!

10G – Defeat The Lost Child

Defeat The Lost Child. It is located in the Sanguine Caverns gate.

Peter’s Perfect Parry

20G – Perfect Guard each one of The Nameless Captive’s headspins using the Untarnished Seal

Warning: This achievement/trophy can be missed and is one of the toughest to earn in Mortal Shell 2.

Perfect Guard the 7-hit headspin attack from The Nameless Captive in the Prisoner’s Domain. Make sure you have the Untarnished Seal equipped. Then get The Nameless Captive down to half health. When he gets up, he will do a fast headspin combo. Avoid that one. Don’t attack him, just dodge and wait for the telegraphed, slower headspin attack (7 swings). You need to perfect guard each (indicated by the yellow spark). The achievement or trophy should pop after guarding all 7 hits. He will continue doing the attack in the 2nd phase. It’s recommended you let him kill you or exit out so you don’t kill him before earning it. Dodge all other attacks during phase 2 to avoid building up his break meter too fast.

The 7-hit headspin contains the following:

  • 2 slow swings
  • 4 rapid swings
  • 1 delayed swing

If you’re still having trouble getting the timings on a controller, remap the Guard button to A/X and make sure the controller is plugged in. Face buttons are easier to press in rapid succession. Plugging in the controller gets rid of a small delay with Bluetooth.

This can be saved until after you have defeated all other bosses.

10G – Defeat The Nameless Captive

Defeat The Nameless Captive. They are located in the Prisoner’s Domain gate.

Midgame Bosses

It burnsssssssss

10G – Defeat Droeg, the Conquerer

Defeat Droeg, the Conquerer. He is located in the Conquered Temple gate.

Something in the deep…

10G – Defeat Hexapod

Defeat Hexapod. It is located in the Withered Shoals gate.

Nightmare Fuel

10G – Defeat Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince

Defeat Sir Isaac, the Scholar-Prince. He is located in the Faded Citadel gate. If you’re having trouble with this boss, try using Genessa or Tiel as your shell. The other copies can distract him so he isn’t constantly aggroed to you.

Endgame Bosses

Lost Your Head

10G – Defeat Orrem, the Reclaimed

Defeat Orrem, the Reclaimed. He is found after the Bridge of Procession Beacon in The Unfound Path gate.

Ultimate Gainz

10G – Defeat Malborn Offspring

Defeat Malborn Offspring. They are found after the Faithful’s Shelter Beacon in The Unfound Path gate.

Praise him!

10G – Defeat The Monolith

Defeat the Monolith. It is located after the Obsidian Vault in The Unfound Path gate. The Monolith is a difficult boss. Try remapping your Guard button to A/X. Guard his 2-hit slam attack and where he pounds down for a single hit. After both, run in for 1-2 free hits. Dodge the swing attack. When the lasers come out in the front, dodge around to the back for free hits. Dodge the best you can when his massive laser attack is released near the end. This fight will take some practice to get the timing right. Tiel’s extended dodge window makes this fight a bit easier too. Good luck.

It’s over now?

10G – Defeat Zmey, the Unbidden

Defeat Zmey, the Unbidden who is the final boss. He is located in the middle of The Unbound Path gate. It’s recommended you go in with Tiel for improved dodge timing and the ability to vanish and get behind the boss. Try to stay under him and attack his feet as much as possible. At the start of phase 2, run away from him so you can see the 4 fire rings and dodge through them.

Attacks

  • Long Range Sword Slam – Dodge to the side.
  • Long Range Fire Volley – Rapidly dodge in succession.
  • Thrust sword into Ground – Wait for the slam, then dodge.
  • Foot Stomp – Dodge 3 times. Watch for his left foot raising. He may do this 1-3 times in a row.
  • Jump and Sit Slam – Unblockable. Dodge back/away from the boss.
  • 4 Swing Attack – This is hard to see when you’re near his legs, but the 4th swing can hit you. Be ready to dodge on the 4th.
  • Tail Swipe – Unblockable. This can easily one-shot you. Dodge into the boss, straight ahead. It is telegraphed by him turning to the side just before the swipe.
  • Fire Circles – In phase 2, he will blast out 2-4 fire circles. Dodge through the rings.

Find the Lute and play all tracks. Locate the loot on the stage in the tavern and equip it. Hold LT/L2 and press X/Square to play the Lute. While playing, press D-Pad Down to change songs. Cycle through all 5 songs to unlock the achievement/trophy.

Watch a Shell Memory by talking with the Shellkeeper in Marrow Keep.

Seeking the Past

50G – Watch all Shell Memories

Warning: This is currently bugged. You are only able to view Sester‘s memories during your first playthrough due to a bug in her dialog on NG+. Make sure you prioritize maxing out her bond and watching all her memories.

Watch all Shell Memories with the Shellkeeper in Marrow Keep. Maxing the bond with each shell takes 27 Glimpses. This will require collecting all shells and fully upgrading them across 2+ playthroughs. During your 2nd playthrough, cleanse all beacons and collect as many extra Glimpses in the world as you can. Some only spawn at night. By the time you reach NG++, you can focus on beacons.

So Fresh, So Clean

30G – Cleanse all Beacons

Find and cleanse all beacons. There are a few beacons that start off clean, so they won’t count.

Bring My Ova Back to Me

10G – Collect all of the Ova

Collect all Ova. Cleanse all beacons in the main game. Especially the gate beacons and the ones in boss arena after killing the bosses.

Gear

Stoned

30G – Find all Tarstones

Warning: This is currently bugged. When you enter the Temple of Vatra, make sure you complete the side puzzle near the top where you light 3 candles to get the Berserker’s Stone. Once you finish the area by taking the Heart of Vatra at the top, it will seal up.

Find all Tarstones in the game. Try to get this to unlock before defeating the final boss. If you miss any besides the bugged one in the Temple of Vatra, you can find them in NG+.

30G – Max out a Weapon at the Tarforge

Level up any weapon to level 16 at the Tarforge.

Conditional Achievements

Feed Me

30G – Cause Egon to pass away

Feed Egon 10,000 Gloom and cause him to pass away. From the Castigator’s Keep Beacon, go to the tower just southwest of the beacon. Ascend the tower and give Egon 10k Gloom. He will die and leave you with 20k Gloom as a reward.

Ascension

50G – Discover the secret of the Mango

Find the Mango.

  1. From the Sanguine Cavers – Pulsing Caves Beacon, jump in the hole and reach the bottom of the shaft. Destroy the exploding plants to open a cave and collect Mether’s Flesh inside.
  2. Travel to the Outskirts of Nochte Beacon. Head into the large cave southeast of the beacon and interact with the cup near the large fish. Place the Mether’s Flesh to be transported to Mango Sanctuary.
  3. Interact with the giant Mango.

No Lifer

100G – Unlock all Achievements for Mortal Shell II

Completionist achievement/trophy for unlocking all others in the game.
