    • Story Playthrough: 15-25 hours
    • Very Hard Playthrough: 35-55 hours

  • Does Difficulty Affect Achievements/Trophies?: Yes. You will need to complete the game on Very Hard difficulty and you need to complete the game without spending money. See Recommended Playthroughs for details.
  • Missable Achievements/Trophies: Yes. There are many conditional achievements/trophies in The Outer Wilds 2 that require specific play styles during quests or playthroughs. The 2 that may require starting a new playthrough are Anti-Consumerist and Whew, That’s Enough. Detailed guides are listed below.
  • Bugged Achievements/Trophies:
    • Go Out with A Bang broke with the 1.0.4.0 patch on October 28th. Hopefully the dev team can get it fixed. I managed to unlock it on the 27th, just before the patch.

Recommended Playthroughs

It’s possible to complete all achievements/trophies in a single playthrough, but it’s not recommended. Working with the factions and purchasing anything will make playing on Very Hard significantly easier.

Story/Normal Playthrough

  • Play the game on Story difficulty.
  • It’s recommended you take Innovative to craft more pistol ammo along with Luck.
  • Stick to the main story quests.
  • Avoid purchasing anything.
  • Take control of the Archive without backup.
  • Side with the Order of Ascendant and finish their quests.
  • Complete all companion quests.
  • Defeat the Consul while wearing clothing instead of armor.

Very Hard Playthrough

  • Play the game on Very Hard difficulty.
  • It’s recommended to have Brilliance as one of your traits along with Luck. Avoid Dumb and take Sickly instead.
  • Increase Speech and Leadership to avoid conflict through conversations (can skip all boss fights).
  • Hack helps to gather additional information.
  • Avoid the Easily Distracted flaw. It will prevent you from getting any skills high enough.
  • Use the Rookie’s Reward until it reaches max level.
    • Purchase ammo from Auntie’s Choice once you get the Negotiator perk.
  • Max out Order Ascendant and Auntie’s Choice by using the Negotiator perk. Get them to work together for peace.
  • Utilize your companions and do their quests.
    • Kill the matriarch in the north for the healing arm for Inez.
    • Use Inez and Tristan as much as possible for heals (Raptidon arm) and tanking.
    • Do both their quests to strengthen them.

Card Collection Playthrough

  • Play the game on Story difficulty.
  • Choose the Professor background to access one of the collectible cards.
  • Take Brawny as one of your traits to open more doors.
  • Max out Lockpicking and Observation to find cards. Then drop points into Hack.
  • Side with Auntie’s Choice and finish their quests to get an additional 2 cards.

General Tips

  • Luck is useful for getting through situations without having the required skills.
  • Take a negative trait to spec into 2 positive traits. Avoid Dumb during your Very Hard playthrough.
  • Pickpocketing is useful early on and throughout the game to get cards and keys. Just drop one point into Sneak.
  • Save often. While playing Very Hard, save before each major encounter. Keep a save before each main mission in case you need to backtrack.
  • Search everywhere and loot everything.
  • Use all computers and click through all readable options (reading them is optional). This will unlock new options during conversations and game play.
  • Talk to your companions when they have a speech bubble over their head to progress their quests. In some cases, this needs to be done on the ship.
  • Utilize the Auto Doc on the ship to heal up for free.

Defeat the Consul while wearing clothing instead of armor. This is best done during an easier playthrough. The Consul is the final boss of the game and can be found at the end of the main quest: Sins of the Past on the Precipice of the Future. Before entering his chambers, change out your armor for something that says “clothing” on it like “Shopkeeper Clothing” and unequip your helmet. After clearing the room, the achievement or trophy will pop.

Complete the Game

The Outer Worlds 2

100G – Complete the game on any difficulty

Defeat the Consul on any difficulty. It’s recommended you play through the main questline on Story/Normal initially to get a feel for the game and complete a playthrough for Anti-Consumerist.

Anti-Consumerist

30G – Complete the game without spending a single bit

Finish the game without spending any bits. Avoid buying from vendors, bribing NPCs, or giving them bits. This is best done during a Story/Normal playthrough since you will want to purchase ammunition and schematics during the Very Hard playthrough.

Hard

30G – Complete the game on Hard difficulty

Complete the game on Hard difficulty or above. See Very Hard for details.

Very Hard

30G – Complete the game on Very Hard difficulty

Complete the game on Very Hard difficulty. Using the below build, fighting will be difficult at first, but it will get easier near the end of the game. Use hit and run tactics if you’re struggling and don’t go into fights if the enemies have skulls. Conserve your ammo.

  • It’s recommended to have Brilliance as one of your traits along with Luck. Avoid Dumb and take Sickly instead.
  • Increase Speech and Leadership to avoid conflict through conversations (can skip all boss fights).

    • Purchase ammo from Auntie’s Choice once you get the Negotiator perk.

  • Utilize your companions and do their quests.
    • Kill the matriarch in the north for the healing arm for Inez.
    • Use Inez and Tristan as much as possible for heals (Raptidon arm) and tanking.

Combat Achievements

Elemental Maelstrom

15G – Kill a single enemy that has been affected by all possible damage types

Kill an enemy that is affected by all damage types (frost, shock, corrosion, plasma, and N-ray). First, check to see what damage types you assigned to your companions and take from the workbench or companions menu. Make sure they are using different damage types. Choose weapons from your arsenal that fill in the gaps. This is easier with more than 2 weapon slots, but is still doable, since you have a grenade slot that can be a different damage type. Look for a large automech, like the one before boarding the ship during the endgame. Change the difficulty to Very Hard to ensure you have time to stack affects.

Never Seen

15G – Kill 50 enemies with Sneak Attacks

Kill 50 enemies with Sneak Attacks. While crouched attack an enemy with a skull in the middle of their health bar which indicates they will die in one hit. This can easily be paired with Hatchling Hunter. When you see small rodents, sneak up on them and shoot them when you see the skill. This will earn both skills without needing to heavily invest in Sneak.

Devices

Corpse Warper

15G – Melt 20 bodies with Auntie’s Acidic Dematerializer

After landing on Eden, equip Auntie’s Acidic Dematerializer and use it to melt 20 bodies. This will be one of your first unlocked achievements or trophies.

Waylaid Grenades

15G – Shoot 3 grenades out of the air

Use your TTD to slow time and shoot a total of 3 grenades out of the air. This is best done in an area with a grenade-throwing enemy high up.

Hatchling Hunter

15G – Kill a total of 50 Raptidon Juveniles, Crabble Hatchlings, Mantiwasps, Spiderlings, or Critters

Kill 50 enemies small animals. Some birds do not count toward this. You will know they count if you sneak up on them and see a skull in the middle of their health bar which indicates they will die in one hit. This can easily be paired with Never Seen. When you see small rodents, sneak up on them and shoot them when you see the skill. This will earn both skills without needing to heavily invest in Sneak.

Big Bang

Go Out With A Bang

15G – Kill 3 enemies with a single shot of the Big Bang

Kill 3 enemies with 1 shot of the Big Bang. Find the Big Bang inside EARL (the building southwest on Cloister). Once inside, head over to the switch puzzle and flip the top-middle, middle, and bottom-middle switches to open the door to the weapon. Immediately after acquiring it, the side door will open the 3 enemies will run in. Hold RT/R2 to charge up Big Bang and release in the middle of the pack to pop the achievement/trophy.

Spectrum Dance Saber

Dance Dance Disfiguration

15G – Kill 10 enemies with the Spectrum Dance Saber while in Spectrum Rainbow mode

Kill 10 enemies with the Spectrum Dance Saber while in Spectrum Rainbow mode. You can purchase or steel the saber from Fiona on the 2nd floor of The 2nd Choice in Free Market Station. I’s pretty expensive, so save the game, equip the saber.

While in combat you will see arrows moving toward the center arrows on your screen. Hold RT/R2 and release to swing when the arrows touch their counterparts to build up the meter. You don’t need to hit anyone to fill the meter, so this is best done while not being attacked and you are still in combat. While the meter is full (after the black arrows), run around and rack up kills. It will likely take 3-4 full meter charges to earn 10 kills. Once the achievement/trophy unlocks, reload the previous save.

Popup Gun

Ad Hominem Homicide

15G – Kill 10 enemies that are taunted by the Popup Gun’s Ad Drones

Kill 10 enemies that are taunted by the Popup Gun’s Ad Drones. Save the game then purchase the weapon from the weapon dealer to the right of the entrance to Head Office Tower on ACS Undisputed Claim. Go to any settlement without your companions and set the difficulty to Story. Fire an ad drone near an NPC, wait for it to attack the drone, then kill them. Once the achievement/trophy pops, reload your save.

Armageddon

Stop Hitting Yourself

15G – Kill 15 enemies using only Armageddon

Kill 15 enemies with Armageddon. Find the weapon by opening the rift inside the Interstitial Weapons Development lab on the 1st floor of Interstitial Reconfiguration on Praetor. Go to any settlement, save the game, and change the difficulty to Story. Use Armageddon to fire tentacles on or near NPCs to kill them.

Shrink Ray

Stompy

15G – Kill 5 enemies by stomping on them after hitting them with the Shrink Ray

Kill 5 enemies by stomping on them after shooting them with the Shrink Ray. Find the Shrink Ray in Crabble Spawning Grounds southwest of the landing pad on Eden. Go to the rifts and open the rift above the building first, followed by the one near the upper path. Run up the ramp and wait on the top-right platform until the 1st rift closes, giving you access to the locker with the Shrink Ray. Hold RT/R2 to charge up the gun and release to fire on an enemy. Walk over their tiny body to finish them off. Make sure you reload when the charge is low.

Armor

Float Like A Butterfly, Sting Like A Bee

15G – Kill 5 enemies while hovering in the Zyranium Automech Suit

Kill 5 enemies while hovering in the Zyranium Automech Suit. Find the suit on the 2nd floor of the Automech Production building on Praetor. Then save the game. Send your companions back to the ship so they don’t interrupt. Go to any location with enemies/friendlies, jump, and hold A/X to hover while you take 5 enemies out with your strongest weapon.

The Outer Worlds 2 Achievements & Trophies Guide - Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee - Zyranium Automech Suit Location Map

Scary GARY Adversary

15G – Kill 5 enemies with Gary’s tendrils

Kill 5 enemies with Gary’s tendrils while wearing Gary’s clothing. Find Gary inside a rift just southwest of The Bridge of the Reverent fast travel point. Open the rift and take Gary’s clothing along with the card he’s holding in his hand. Equip the clothing. When near enemies, it will automatically send out tendrils to attack.

Winning Hearts and Heads

15G – Collect 20 human hearts

Collect 20 human hearts with the Serial Killer perk. This requires both the Serial Killer and the Psychopath perks. Make sure you save enough points. It’s recommended you do this during your easier playthrough.

Save up 2 perk points, save, purchase the perks, collect the hearts, and reload to reallocate the points where you want them. Go to any large settlement without your companions. Then drop the difficulty to Story and kill everyone. As you kill the inhabitants, some will automatically drop a heart and you will see a message. No need to loot the bodies. Progress can be tracking in Inventory Collectibles.

Character Progression Achievements

Flawed Hero

15G – Accept 3 Flaws

Accept 3 Flaws during one of your playthroughs. While playing the game, you will be presented with the option to take on a flaw that comes with a positive and negative affect. Choose 3 of these, including Consumerism (presented after completing the prologue) if you are not doing an Anti-Consumerism playthrough.. Choosing a flaw during character creation does not count toward this achievement/trophy.

Level 30

30G – Reach Level 30

Reach level 30. This will unlock naturally during a playthrough where you try to do most quests. If you finish the game and didn’t reach 30, load the last save before the point of no return, drop the difficulty, and do additional quests to pop it.

Skilled

15G – Raise a Skill to level 20

Raise one skill to level 20. Choose 1 skill to max out. You will have enough points to max out 3 skills if you focus on them. Avoid any flaws that force you to put points into your lowest skills (Easily Distracted).

Upgrades Available

15G – Apply modifications to 10 weapons or armors

Add mods to 10 weapons or armor at a workbench. This can easily be saved for later in the game. You will find many mods for armor. Save, add mods to 10 armor pieces, then reload.

Rookie’s Reward

Maximum Gun

15G – Fully level-up Rookie’s Reward

Max out Rookie’s Reward by getting it to level 30. After completing the prologue, enter the small locker room across from the medical bay in your ship. Behind the boxes on the left is a switch to shut off the power to the locked cabinet. Take the weapon inside and equip it. As you use Rookie’s Reward in combat, it will level up. Each level will increase the stats of the gun.

Do not combine this with Anti-Consumerist. You will need to purchase the recipe to craft Short Ammo and will almost exclusively need to use Rookie’s Reward for the bulk of a playthrough to reach max level.

Companion Achievements

One for All

30G – Recruit all companions

Wait until you have all companions on your ship. Save the game. Then talk to each one and tell them they are no longer needed. Once the achievement/trophy unlocks, reload your save and continue playing.

Faction Achievements

Destroyer of Worlds

15G – Reach the lowest possible standing with Auntie’s Choice and the Order of the Ascendant

Reach the lowest standing with Auntie’s Choice and the Order of the Ascendant. This is best done on an easier playthrough. After finishing the game by not spending bits, reload an earlier save, buy ammo, and go to settlements on Eden and Cloister to rack up kills.

Peace

Corporation Cooperation

15G – Convince Auntie’s Choice and the Order of the Ascendant to work together

Convince the 2 factions to work together by facilitating peace talks. You may side with OA and complete their quests, side with AC and complete their quests, or get them to work together and block the remaining faction quests. Save before turning in each of the primary faction quests. When you are introduced to the leader of the faction, you will need to choose which path to take. After completing an achievement, reload and play the next path.

Work with each faction until you talk with their leader. Then work with them to come to a peace agreement. It’s recommended you have Leadership at 14, Speech at 14 or 20, or Science at 14 to work through the negotiations. This is best done during the Very Hard playthrough to make some long fights much easier. Side with Auntie’s Choice on the 1st term, the Order on the 2nd, and a split on the 3rd. When the 4th option is presented agree that it makes sense.

Example

Here are the negotiation points if you have Leadership 14.

  1. How about the Order gets the Archive, but directs some power to an ad campaign?
    • These negotiations won’t get very far without compromising somewhere.
  2. Ruth is right. Skip drives are too important to trust to anyone but the Order.
    • (Leadership 14) Auntie’s Choice needs to build community or you’ll forever be seen as invaders.
  3. Crazy idea, but maybe the Order and Auntie’s Choice can share the technology?
    • You say that like it’s a bad thing…
  4. That doesn’t sound too difficult. Auntie, can you help with that?
    • But it is Auntie’s business now, Ruth. You two are working together.
    • An exchange of a few chemicals seems reasonable enough. Right, Auntie?

Auntie’s Choice

Auntie’s Old Acquaintance

30G – Meet Amos

Meet Amos on the ACS Undisputed Claim. While wandering around the main hub of the ship, someone will approach you and say you dropped something. Talk with her then head to the back of the ship with the tram to get the Forbidden Secrets of the Undisputed Claim quest. Return to the hub and find Amos at the objective marker.

AC: All Complete

30G – Complete all faction quests for Auntie’s Choice

Complete all faction quests for the Auntie’s Choice. This will unlock after siding with Auntie’s Choice and completing Head Games of the Marketing Maven. All 3 faction achievements/trophies are mutually exclusive. You may side with OA and complete their quests, side with AC and complete their quests, or get them to work together and block the remaining faction quests. Save before turning in each of the primary faction quests. When you are introduced to the leader of the faction, you will need to choose which path to take. After completing an achievement, reload and play the next path.

This is was bugged at launch and fixed on October 31, 2025. When returning from the archive there is no way to turn in the quest. The 1.0.4.1 patch fixed it.

Order of the Ascendant

OA: Objectives Accomplished

30G – Complete all faction quests for the Order of the Ascendant

Complete all faction quests for the Order of the Ascendant. This will unlock after completing The Final Lesson quest for OA.

Everything Must Go

15G – Earn 50,000 bits by selling items to vendors

Sell items to vendors and worth 50k bits. This can be done on either playthrough, but it’s recommended on the easier since you won’t be buying anything. Grab as many items as you can during your playthrough and try to avoid breaking them down. By the time you get the Rift Anomaly Modulator, you should have plenty to sell.

Save the game and make note of your current bits balance. Then sell all junk followed by everything in your inventory until the achievement/trophy unlocks. Once it does, reload your save and feel free to breakdown any items.

  1. Thank you as always my friend, may i ask a favor if possible?

Im the kind who loves doing the highest difficulty run from the start (blind), so my question is can we have a missable section only so we could see the missable stuff only without spoiling the rest of the game (the unmissable)

    Best regards,

    Reply
    • I can add a list of the missable achievements at the top with links that go directly to them. Unfortunately, there are some that will always contain spoilers since you need to know the context of how they are missed.

      Reply
      • I totally understand/dont mind.

But i meant a list with these missables are in chronological order, if its not a big hustle on you sir <3 ?

And one more question please, do collectables carry over to NG+ or you have to start over ?

        Thank you in advance.

        • I think each unique card only needs to be collected once and the primary save file stores which ones you found. All other collectibles can easily be picked up in one playthrough with the exception of the logs on Cloister. One of those may be blocked by a faction quest.

  2. Hey I found out that one of the Pitchball cards is bugged in Free Market Station. Im worried that more cards might be bugged if one is bugged. I have only found a little over 70 cards and I looked everywhere for them. Do you think that some cards are locked behind skill checks such as lockpick, engineering, observation, maybe even hack. So maybe you need to make a character with all those things to find 100? How many cards have you found so far. Also will you put the list of cards that you have found out before you find them all and edit them in as you go or will you wait till you find them all?

    • I’m working on it. I will post it once there’s a reasonable amount of cards. From what I’ve seen the cards cannot all be collected at once since there are so many branching paths and some locations only show up on the map if you choose a specific faction. They may be saved to your primary/profile save. I’m testing a theory right now to see if it works.

  3. Hi, just a question. Is the Negotiator Perk a requirement to make peace between Auntie’s Choice and The Order of the Ascendant? Or can I just max out my speech?

    • No. You need to save before choosing a faction or going forward with peace. They are mutually exclusive. Finish a faction, reload, finish the next, reload and opt for peace. If you’re going for all achievements, it’s recommended you do 2-3 playthroughs.

  4. What exactly do I need to do to side with the Aunties Choice? Do I need to do the negotiations Or do I just ignore the negotiations. Like do I need to complete an equitable arrangement to side with Auntie or if I do that I cant side with her.

    • Siding with either faction is easy. Each one wants to eliminate the other. Getting the peace agreement is tough and requires high speech and leadership.

  5. Do you know how to get the All for None achievement its my last one. I tried your method of kicking them out manually and I didnt get the Achievement. Do I need to kill a bunch of their faction to get them to leave. Or does it need to be story related, for example dropping the Vox Relay on fairfield gets Inez to leave, siding with De Vries on tranquility station gets Nile to turn against you. Killing the leader of the protectorate (the handicap guy) in the mental refreshment building gets Tristan to leave. But I don’t know what gets Marisol or Aza to leave story wise. Marisol just left me when I killed ruth but Idk if that counts.

Like do the companions need to leave in scripted events?

    • I know Marisol leaves if you don’t save her friend from being killed at the start of her questline. It happened multiple times during my Very Hard playthrough. I got the achievement just after finishing all their quests. Once the final one completed, I returned to the ship and told all except V.A.L. to leave. Odd that it isn’t working for you. Did they actually leave the ship?

  6. Sorry for repeating the question (well kinda) im i able to join 1 faction to finish thier questline to got the trophy and then make the two factions work together ( without reloading an old save )?

It might sound repetitive but i really need someone to elaborate please.

    • No. If you choose sides, the other faction will not want to work with you. If you want all 3 faction quests, save, earn the achievement for a faction, reload, repeat.

  7. So if I Convince Auntie’s Choice and the Order of the Ascendant to work together I can’t do any more of the faction quests, you’ve got to choose 1 side to work with and then reload/do another playthrough and side with the opposite faction?

    • Correct. You can go down 1 of the 3 paths during a playthrough without saving/reloading. If you want all 3, you need to save before choosing and reload after unlocking each achievement.

  8. Hey mate, got one last question please, if i want to do all faction quests (first finish the order and then reload to finish Aunties, then reload to make them work together), from where do i start and what bridge that everyone is talking about ( not to pass it until you are done with factions ).
Sorry if its a complicated question.

    Best regards,

    • You can do the first 2-3 faction quests for each side before you need to choose a path. Always save before turning in a faction quest. When you meet the leader of a faction, that is the initial decision point. The hard point comes when you make choices in The Archive.

It’s easy to do each faction during one of your playthroughs. Getting them to work together may not be possible unless you have enough points in leadership and speech. I did the peace path during my Very Hard playthrough to make things easier. The 2 individual factions I did during my easier playthrough and did the save/reload method. If you’re planning a 3rd playthrough just for card collections, then go with Auntie so you have access to 2 more cards.

      • Im on my very hard first playthrough now and im doing good with the cards (haven’t missed any missable card so far) so im planning to do everything in this run and make my easy run for not buying anything + rushing to the archives.

        • Good plan. I ended up with 3+ runs to ensure I found as many cards as possible for the guide. There are more than enough in there now that missing a few shouldn’t stop you from getting 100.

      • Speech 20 should work. The path I took used Leadership 14 for the main decision point. As long as you can convince both sides to meet together and then find compromises that they agree with, you should be good. I’m sure there are multiple ways to achieve peace. The achievement guide maps out the method I took.

  9. Just a note. I was able to get the corporate cooperation achievement even with low stats. during the skip drive negotiation I said ” I disagree, nothing in life comes for free” and then only had to pass a low science check about delaying skip drives helping safety.
