Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Achievements & Trophies Guide

Welcome to the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 achievements and trophies guide. This guide covers all 55 achievements/trophies available in the base game at launch.

Clair Obscur: Expediton 33 is a fantastic game. Not only does the game look beautiful, but the story, voice acting, music, game play, and depth of content are the target games should aim for. It also helps that the game released with little to no noticeable bugs. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Game Stats

  • Difficulty: 3/10
  • Time to Completion: 70-100 hours
    • Story: 25-40 hours
  • Does Difficulty Affect Achievements/Trophies?: No.
  • Missable Achievements/TrophiesA Peculiar Encounter may be missed if you don’t defeat the Mime In Lumiere before reaching the docks. Make sure you earn and spend all tokens before leaving Lumiere. The old key is needed for a journal (Follow the Trail). Aiding the enemy is missable if you kill the quest-giving Nevrons with the exception of the one who asks for it.
  • Bugged Achievements/Trophies: None reported. If an achievement or trophy does not pop, close the game and reboot it. This happened for 2 achievements during my playthrough.

General Tips

  • Enable Automatic QTE under Accessibility settings if you don’t like that game mechanic.
  • Change Sprint Input to Toggle in the Gameplay settings.
  • Focus on the main story quests to unlock more expedition members and skills.
  • Dodge has a slightly longer window than parry if you’re trying to mitigate damage.
  • If you successfully parry a full combo of attacks, you will counterattack and earn more AP.
  • Press RB/R1 when near an enemy to initiate a First Strike attack.
  • Press/Hold LT/L2, aim, and destroy enemy weak points using RT/R2.
  • Use the Free Aim mechanic to take down shields or skills that deal more hits than they cost in AP.
  • Explore each area. If it looks like the game wants you to go a specific direction, look for branching paths.
  • With the exception of the 1st record in Lumiere, you can hold off on collectibles until after the story.
  • Once you reach Act 2, stop by the camp and talk with your companions after each location is completed.
  • Focus on getting your Might attributes high in the mid game and add Agility or Luck in the endgame.
  • Each time you visit camp, write in the journal before leaving. A new skill will eventually unlock.
  • Don’t kill the Nevrons that give you quests.
  • Use Maelle when fighting in the arena to unlock her best weapon. If you miss the chance, you can have Maelle fight Golgra solo later on. Make sure you complete the Hidden Arena to get the solo buffs.
  • Try to purchase all Colour of Luminas from merchants.

Boss Achievements

Professional

10G – Defeat a boss without taking any damage.

Defeat a boss without taking damage. The best time to do this is in the early game. When you reach the tree in Spring Meadows, change the difficulty to Story for the boss fight. This will give you longer dodge/parry windows. At the start of the fight, parry the attack. Then aim and fire twice on the body to remove the shield and once at the weak point before using an attack.

During the fight, parry all spells on the count of 3. Parry the single weapon melee attacks and dodge the dual weapon attacks (timing is different, so play it safe). Doing so will give you extra AP points and counter attacks to chip away at the boss’s health. When it summons adds, take them out first. Aim and fire twice before performing a standard attack on each add. If you get hit, Load Previous Save and try again.

Expedition 33 Trophies Guide - Professional - Defeat a Boss without Taking Damage

Another option is to wait until you reach Stone Wave Cliffs at the end of Act 1. In the dark, underground area there is a boss named Rocher who looks like a crystal until you approach. It was the easiest boss in the game to defeat.

Expedition 33 Trophies Guide - Professional - Defeat a Boss without Taking Damage - Rocher - Easiest Boss

Story Bosses

First Axon

25G – Defeat the first Axon.

When you reach Visages, take all 3 of the alternate paths and destroy the mask bosses to weaken the first Axon. The fight is broken up into 2 phases. During the 1st phase, aim at the glowing eyes in the mirror to weak and destroy the masks. If you have Monoco in your party, Chevaliere Thrusts and Moissonneuse Vendage are both powerful attacks in both phases. Try to ration items and make sure Lune is in your party for healing/raising.

Expedition 33 Trophies Guide - First Axon

Second Axon

25G – Defeat the second Axon.

While exploring in Sirene, make sure you take out the 2 mini-bosses, Tisseur and Glissando. Before fighting the Axon, complete 4 battles with Anti-Charm (dropped by Tisseur) equipped and make sure your party members all have it activated. Otherwise, the boss will charm them and you will quickly lose to yourself. Utilize ice attacks to exploit her weakness.

Paintress

50G – Defeat the Paintress.

Defeat the Paintress. This fight can be tough, especially in the 2nd phase. Make sure you level up and equip Second Chance on your party to raise them the first time they die.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Achievements & Trophies Guide - Paintress

Endgame Bosses

Carreau Parfait

10G – Beat the Chromatic Pétank.

Defeat the Chromatic Petank in a large valley on the eastern landmass. This is the easiest of the endgame bosses. You will need to chase the boss from the starting location in the north to the location shown below after following it through water.

Sprong

10G – Beat Sprong.

Defeat Sprong in the water east of the Endless Tower during Act 3. Fly over to Sprong’s location and the fight will initiate. Sprong’s movements are slow, so you should easily dodge/parry them to stay alive. Work on building up his stagger meter and use Maelle’s level 3 Gradient Attack when it is ready.

À On

10G – Beat the Serpenphare.

Defeat Serpenphare flying in the air above the water in the east. Save this boss till near the end of your playthrough. It’s recommended you have Maelle in your party for her level 3 Gradient Attack. When the boss goes below the platform, be ready for an easy set of 3 parries.

"Endless"

50G – Reach the top of the Endless Tower.

Complete the Endless Tower by defeating 33 trials. The tower consists of 11 stages with 3 trials each. After defeating the Painted Love boss in 11-3 the achievement or trophy will unlock.

Clea

25G – Beat Clea.

Defeat Clea in the Flying Manon area after unlocking her door by fighting 4 other bosses nearby.

Refer to the Expedition 33 Clea & Simon Boss Guide for a detailed setup and strategy that made this fight significantly easier.

Peace At Last

50G – Beat Simon.

Defeat Simon at the bottom of The Abyss after navigating your way through Renoir’s Drafts. This boss is tough during the 2nd phase. He will remove bodies of fallen party members and wipe the party when his health is low.

Refer to the Expedition 33 Clea & Simon Boss Guide for a detailed setup and strategy that made this fight significantly easier.
