Welcome to the RE4 Separate Ways achievements and trophies guide for the 2023 remake. You will need to play through the expansion 2-4 times playing various scenarios to unlock all achievements/trophies.
Refer to the Resident Evil 4 Remake Achievements & Trophies Guide for a walkthrough of the base games.
Game Stats
- Difficulty: 7/10
- Time to Completion: 15-20 hours
- Assisted NG: 6-8 hours
- Assisted NG+: 3-4 hours
- Professional NG+: 1-2 hours
- Professional NG: 4-6 hours
- Does Difficulty Affect Achievements/Trophies?: Yes. You will need to play on Standard and Professional to get all achievements/trophies.
- Missable Achievements/Trophies: Yes. Only the automatic story achievements/trophies cannot be missed. There is no option to select chapters after completing them.
Recommended Playthroughs
- New Game Assisted: Start by playing through the game on Assisted difficulty while you grab all the collectibles and upgrade a few weapons.
- (Optional) NG+ Any: Optionally, squeeze another playthrough (2.5 hours) in to purchase the Infinite Rocket Launcher and have it ready for the start of your NG+ Professional run.
- NG+ Professional: Next, finish New Game+ on Professional difficulty in under 4 hours and unlock the Chicago Sweeper. If you complete the optional run and have the Infinite Rocket Launcher for this, it should only take an hour since you can skip collecting items.
- New Game Professional: Then, start a new game on Professional an use the Chicago Sweeper to finish the game in under 2.5 hours with 10 saves or less. Refer to the RE4 Separate Ways Professional S+ Guide for a detailed walkthrough.
General Tips
- Combine Yellow Herbs with Green and Red and use the vial to permanently increase your maximum health and fully heal you when your health is low.
- Consider purchasing the treasure map and backtrack anytime you find a new key or unlock a new pathway.
- Don’t sell gems directly to the merchant. Instead, combine them with jewelry for increased selling value.
- Track playthrough stats in the Challenges menu. Simply scroll down to view the one you are currently working toward.
- Kick doors with padlocks open to save ammo.
Story Achievements
Giant Slayer
20G – Defeat El Gigante in Separate Ways.
Automatic story achievement/trophy. This will unlock after fighting and defeating El Gigante on the rooftops during Chapter 3. While fighting El Gigante, use the rooftops to move around, occasionally dropping to the ground. Aim for its head at the start, then the extension that grows out of its back. When you see the prompt, press RT/R2 to zip in and do massive damage.
"It" Kept You Busy
20G – Defeat Pesanta in Separate Ways.
Automatic story achievement/trophy. This will unlock after fighting and defeating Pesanta during Chapter 5. In the 1st phase, aim for Pesanta’s head and be ready to dodge with B/Circle when the prompt flashes on screen. Then, aim for the glowing orange weak points in the 2nd phase and be ready to press RT/R2 for significant damage when it is stunned.
Had Enough Preachers
20G – Defeat Osmund Saddler in Separate Ways.
Automatic story achievement/trophy. This will unlock after fighting and defeating Osmund Saddler during Chapter 7. While fighting Saddler, aim for his head and be ready to block (LB/L1) or dodge (B/Circle) when the prompts appear in the lower right corner. Use the pillars in the room to avoid most of his attacks and pop out to hit him before moving behind cover again.
Playthrough Achievements
Capable Operative
20G – Complete Separate Ways on Standard mode or higher.
Stack this achievement/trophy with Perfect Mission. See Perfect Mission below for details.
Skilled Agent
20G – Complete Separate Ways on Hardcore mode or higher.
Stack this achievement/trophy with Perfect Mission. See Perfect Mission below for details.
Perfect Mission
30G – Complete Separate Ways on Professional mode.
This achievement should be done while playing on NG+ and will unlock the Chicago Sweeper if completed in less than 4 hours. Go for this achievement/trophy after completing your 1st playthrough, or save it until after you unlock the Infinite Rocket Launcher in Assisted NG+. Owning the rocket launcher makes this run significantly easier and it lowers the time of the run to around 1 hour of playtime.
Professional Speed Run
Ada the "S+"py
50G – Complete Separate Ways on Professional mode with an S+ rank.
Start a New Game (not New Game+) on Professional mode and complete it in under 2.5 hours with no more than 10 saves. If you die, quit to the main menu and manually load the last save to avoid the time stacking against you and having the death count. Use the Chicago Sweeper from the last playthrough and upgrade its power. Then, use an upgrade ticket to gain infinite ammo. Also, consider purchasing a rocket launcher for the battle with Saddler during Chapter 7.
The recommended save points are as follows:
- End of Chapter 1
- After meeting the merchant for the 1st time in Chapter 2
- Inside the silo at the farm before crossing the bridge in Chapter 3
- After completing the gong puzzle in Chapter 4
- End of Chapter 4
- After lowering the water level in Chapter 5, return to the merchant and save
- At the merchant before crossing the bridge to fight Pesanta
- End of Chapter 5
- At the merchant before the laser gun field in Chapter 6
- Just before starting the timed segment at the end of Chapter 7
