Welcome to the RE4 Separate Ways Professional S+ guide for the 2023 remake’s expansion. This guide will walk you through how to complete Professional mode on New Game (not NG+) in under 2.5 hours needed for the Ada the “S+”py achievement or trophy. Following the estimated times in this guide will still give you an additional buffer of 15 minutes.

Setup
Before playing a new game on Professional mode, its recommended you complete the following playthroughs to simplify the experience.
- New Game Assisted: Start by playing through the game on Assisted difficulty while you grab all the collectibles and upgrade 1-2 weapons.
- (Optional) NG+ Any: Its recommended you squeeze another playthrough (2.5 hours) in to purchase the Infinite Rocket Launcher and have it ready for the start of your NG+ Professional run.
- NG+ Professional: Next, finish New Game+ on Professional difficulty in under 4 hours and unlock the Chicago Sweeper. If you complete the optional run and have the Infinite Rocket Launcher for this, it should only take an hour since you can skip collecting items.
Additionally, you can purchase the Resident Evil 4 Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket x1 DLC from the system’s store. It costs about $2.99 and will let you upgrade the Chicago Sweeper near the start of the run.
General Tips
- If you die, Quit to the main menu and choose Load to manually load the last save. Continuing will count the death and add the time spent to your running total.
- Hold Y/Triangle to skip all cutscenes and video calls.
- Conserve ammo until the Chicago Sweeper has an infinite supply. Backstab, melee stunned enemies, and break padlocks with kick to reduce ammo spent.
- Either purchase the DLC Upgrade Ticket or do all merchant quests until you can trade for the merchant’s ticket and apply it to the Chicago Sweeper for infinite ammo.
- Fully upgrade the Chicago Sweeper’s power stat.
- If you can run past or skip a fight, do it to save time and conserve ammo/health.
- Purchase a rocket launcher in Chapter 7 to skip the Saddler fight.
Save Points
You can only save 10 times during the playthrough, so make them count. The recommended save points are as follows:
- End of Chapter 1
- After meeting the merchant for the 1st time in Chapter 2
- Inside the silo at the farm before crossing the bridge in Chapter 3
- After completing the gong puzzle in Chapter 4
- End of Chapter 4
- After lowering the water level in Chapter 5, return to the merchant and save
- At the merchant before crossing the bridge to fight Pesanta (Black Robe)
- End of Chapter 5
- At the merchant before the laser gun field in Chapter 6
- Just before starting the timed segment at the end of Chapter 7
Chapter 1
Estimated Time: 5-10 minutes
- Grab the green herb on the way up to the 1st fight
- During the 1st fight with Black Robe, keep moving around, and break vases if you’re low on ammo
Castle Courtyard
- When you reach the courtyard, stick to the upper paths and grab the green herb
- Then, backstab the enemy across the short bridge
- Next, backstab the enemy coming out the door
- Head in through the door and collect the treasure
- Then, cross the long bridge and backstab the enemy
- Run back to the stairs and backstab the 2 enemies on the way down
- Next, backstab the 2 enemies near the gazebo and collect the treasure
- After that, grapple to the tower, cross the long bridge, and drop down to the lower section
- Collect the M1903 and the Scope
- Then, drop down and backstab the enemy by the barriers
- Run down the stairs and collect the treasure before grappling up to the next section
- Take the ladder to the top of the tower and use the cannon to destroy the 2 catapults and the explosive barrels
- After the chapter finishes, move the Chicago Sweeper and Elite Knife into your inventory.
Save Point 1: Save you progress after the chapter completes.
Chapter 2
Estimated Time: 15-20 minutes
- Try to backstab the 1st 3-4 enemies on the way to the gate
- Collect the red herb before jumping down the ladder
- Before opening the gate, collect the treasure in the chest and the green herb nearby
- Next, open the gate and lure the enemies toward the explosive barrel, shooting the quicker ones to slow them down
- Then, shoot the barrel when they are gathered around it
- Run up the stairs, duck under the trip wire, and wait for the brute to trigger it. If another enemy is moving faster, shoot them to slow them down or kill them.
- Once the brute triggers the trap, finish it off
- Next, run through the gate and toss a flashbang near the house
- Then, grab the yellow herb as you run past the stunned enemies and grapple out of the area
Villa
- First, backstab the enemy downstairs and collect the green herb
- Next, head out the back/side window and backstab the enemy on the side of the house
- Then, shoot the explosive barrel, killing the 2 enemies by the gate
- Run out the gate and down the path on the right, collecting the treasure at the end
- After that, cross the bridge, stun/kill the woman at the end, and grapple up
- Backstab the enemy on the platform and grapple to stun the woman at the end while destroying all 4 blue targets for the merchant’s quest
- Open the puzzle door at the end of the path
Cathedral
- Grapple to the top of the short roof nearby and shoot the nest for a treasure
- Then, collect the yellow herb before opening the gate and run past all the enemies toward the merchant
Merchant
- If you have the Exclusive Upgrade Ticket, spend it on the Chicago Sweeper to give it unlimited ammo
- Since you don’t need to save Spinels, go ahead and trade them for a few keys
- If you don’t have the Exclusive Ticket, save your Spinels for one later in the game
- In the next room, shoot the lantern hanging above the table and collect the treasure inside
- Then, return to the merchant and sell anything you will no longer need, including placing 2 rubies in the Flagon
- Upgrade the Chicago Sweeper’s power for 50k
Save Point 2: Save you progress after meeting the merchant for the 1st time and completing your business with him.
Black Robe
- At the start of the fight, use the pyre in the middle of the village to attack the Black Robe from a protected range
- When Black Robe disappears, keep moving to avoid getting hit as it appears next to you
- Be prepared to dodge (B/Circle) or block (LB/L1) when you see the prompts in the lower right corner
- Melee Black Robe every time the prompt appears
- After the 2nd scream, locate the real boss and toss a grenade at it
- Then, press RT/R2 for massive damage
- Continue using grenades to finish off the final phase
- If Black Robe grabs you, spam RT/R2 and stab it
Village
- After the fight, head into the tower by the chapel and collect the green herb
- Next, go inside the building on your left and grab the treasure in the back room
- Grapple through the window in the 2-story house and jump onto the roof
- Then, jump down to the ground behind the homes and go inside the next house to collect a treasure if you purchased a key from the merchant
- Next, grapple into the side window of the tall barn and collect another treasure
Warning: Don’t save at the end of the chapter.
Chapter 3
Estimated Time: 15-20 minutes
Village Chief’s Manor
- First, run downstairs and grab the red herb from the bathroom under the stairs
- Next, collect the treasure from the fireplace mantle
- Then, grab the key behind the picture on the wall
- Pickup the green herb in the hall near the key
- Head back upstairs and open the drawer in the room
- After the cutscene, run out the front door, shooting enemies to briefly stun them, and grapple when you see the prompt
- Next, stun the woman directly in your path and grapple over the trees behind her
- Run down the stairs and shoot the enemies to stun them
- Then, grapple over the gate to safety
Abandoned Factory
- Run down the path on the left and shoot the lantern for a treasure
- Head inside the factory and kill the enemies, making sure you collect Leon’s Jacket for the merchant quest
- Then, collect the Blast Crossbow and arrows in the middle room before opening the shortcut for later
- If you have a key, use it on the drawer next to the shortcut for another treasure
- Follow the path, examine the footprint, and look on the back of the cigarette pack for Luis’s number
- Next, take out the 1st 3 enemies
- When you reach the large room where you can hear the chainsaw coming, duck into the small room and through the shortcut
- Then, toss a flashbang through the gate on the left to stun the other chainsaw enemy and quickly close the valve
- Exit the factory as fast as you can
Village Chief’s Manor & Village
- Next, go out the back door and collect the treasure on the side of the house
- Then, return to the village and sell unneeded gear, including the jacket, to the merchant
- You should have just enough to purchase the 2nd power upgrade for the Chicago Sweeper for 100k
- Skip the enemies in the village if you’re still conserving ammo
- Take the ladder to the rooftops or grapple through the 2nd story window
- Next, follow the path until just before the gate to the farm
- Head inside the last building on the left and collect a treasure
Farm
- Take out the dynamite throwing enemies on the rooftops and all others as you see fit
- Shoot the lantern on the windmill to the left when it is not over the sludge for a treasure
- Then, run to the side of the large barn in the back for a green herb
- Shoot another lantern on the side of the large silo and collect the treasure
- Next, grab the red herb just to the left as you enter the structure connected to the silo on the way to the bridge, but don’t cross the bridge yet.
- Head inside the silo and collect the treasure next to the typewriter
Save Point 3: Save you progress inside the farm’s silo just before crossing the bridge to the villa.
El Gigante
- While fighting El Gigante, use the rooftops to move around, occasionally dropping to the ground
- Aim for its head at the start, then the extension that grows out of its back
- When you see the prompt, press RT/R2 to zip in and do massive damage
Warning: Don’t save at the end of the chapter.
Chapter 4
Estimated Time: 15-25 minutes
- Grab the green herb in the 1st room with Luis
- Next, grapple up to flip the switch for the 2nd gate
- As you’re running up the stairs after saving Luis from the fire, turn around at the top and grapple to another floor to collect the treasure hidden there
Tile Puzzle
- Before entering the room down the stairs with the puzzle, move the bookshelf and grab the lithographic piece next to the merchant
- Next, grab the other lithographic piece on the couch next to the puzzle and solve the puzzle by flipping and moving tiles to match this
Shield Puzzle
- In the room with the shields, shoot the silver lantern hanging from the ceiling for a treasure
- Next, look at the group of shields to the left of the fireplace
- Then, shoot them in this order: lower left, upper right, lower right
- Collect the ink to trigger the cutscene
Gong Puzzle
- Pull the cable to ring the deer gong
- Next, trigger 2 snake gongs
- Then, activate all 3 eagle gongs and collect the Crimson Lantern
- While returning, ring the 3 eagle gongs, 3 fish gongs, and 2 snake gongs before grappling through the gap
Save Point 4: Save you progress after completing the gong puzzle and before the knight section.
Bottle Puzzles
- After saving, place the lantern on the wall to open the gate
- Next, collect the treasure on the right side of the room
- Grab the Silver Bottle, triggering the 1st knight ambush
- Place the bottle on the pedestal, run through the door, and collect the bottle on the other side
- If you have a key, open the drawer on the right in the next hall for a treasure
- Then, place the Silver Bottle on the next point and grab the Gold Bottle to start the next knight fight
- Collect the treasure in the alcove behind where the Gold Bottle was resting
- Replace the Silver Bottle with the Gold Bottle and collect the treasure in the opposite room
- Next, place the Silver Bottle back to exit the knight room and swap bottles again to open the next path
- Swap bottles a final time so the Silver Bottle is on the pedestal and climb the ladder
Hedge Maze
- After the merchant, turn right and grab the treasure behind the fountain
- Then, follow the path to the right and collect another treasure beyond a small gate
- Inside the maze, use the grapple point directly in front of you on the left and kill the red-robed enemy
- Collect the treasure in the small alcove behind the fountain
- Shoot all 5 blue targets to complete the last merchant quest needed for the Exclusive Upgrade Ticket and upgrade the Chicago Sweeper if it wasn’t already done in Chapter 2
- Exit the hedge maze and collect the treasure inside the 1st room
Castle Battlements
- Grab the yellow herb after grappling to the 1st section of the battlements
- Inside the 1st tower, work your way to the bottom floor and collect the treasure in a small alcove
- Next, flip the switch in the next tower and collect the treasure on its lower floor
- Grapple up to the top of the next tower and drop down the left side to acquire another treasure directly in your path
- Open the lock in the room with the following combination and collect the final ingredient
Save Point 5: Save you progress after the chapter completes.
Chapter 5
Estimated Time: 20-25 minutes
Castle Ramparts
- From the start of the chapter, head out the door on the left and grapple to the top of the tower to collect a treasure
- Follow the footprints until you open the gate, then take the left path before dropping down
- Kill the enemies along the path and flip the next switch
- Next, collect the treasure (Elegant Crown can be sold for 100k with different colored gems) on the opposite side of the wall from the switch
Sewers
- After grappling down to the lower floor, run up the nearby staircase and collect the treasure
- Grab the yellow herb near the 3 enemies on the path and shoot the lantern above for another treasure
- Next, inside the room with the valve, open the drawer if you have a key for a treasure
- Collect the Biosensor Scope (keep this for later) next to the valve
- Then, turn the valve to lower the water level
- Head down the hall on the right, collect another treasure, and open the shortcut
- Return to the merchant’s room and sell anything you don’t need
- Upgrade the Chicago Sweeper’s power for 150k
Save Point 6: Save your progress at the merchant after lowering the water level.
Garrador Fight
- Drop down into the water and work your way to the left
- Shoot the silver lantern hanging from the bridge and collect the treasure
- Duck under the gap ahead and kill the fish if you see it for another merchant quest (don’t go looking for it)
- Collect what you can before the fight and try to damage the 2 garradors as much as possible with the Chicago Sweeper while they’re still chained
- The rest of this encounter is similar to the one in the base game, sneak around, use grenades and knife attacks to take their health down and the Chicago Sweeper when they’re stunned
- Consider trading at the merchant for the red leather case to increase red herb drops for 2 Spinels.
Save Point 7: Save you progress at the merchant just before crossing the bridge to fight Pesanta (Black Robe).
Pesanta Fight
- In the 1st phase, aim for Pesanta’s head and be ready to dodge with B/Circle when the prompt flashes on screen
- Stay at medium range and unload using the Chicago Sweeper to mostly stun him during the 1st phase
- Then, aim for the glowing orange weak points in the 2nd phase and be ready to press RT/R2 for significant damage when it is stunned
- While the boss is underground, be ready to dodge (B/Circle) if it pops up under you
- Collect the green herb in the room before continuing on
Clock Tower
- Work your way to the crank at the top of the platforms and open the gate long enough for the enemy to go through
- Next, clear out the 2nd batch of enemies and reopen the gate
- Run quickly while avoiding the last enemy at the bottom and dive under the gate
- When you reach the merchant, sell anything you don’t need and finish upgrading the Chicago Sweeper’s power
Tunnels
- Work your way through the tunnels until you approach the yellow switch and grab the red herb before flipping it
- Feel free to kill the 3 hidden bugs for the merchant quest as you work your way to the end of the chapter
- Be extra careful through this segment not to get crushed by the moving stone pillars
- Don’t bother with the treasure down the path on the left
- Continue past along the main path and shoot the silver lantern hanging between 2 pillars in the tunnel that leads out of the area for a treasure
- Use all explosive barrels to speed up the final encounter
Boat House
- Shoot the silver lantern in the corner above the 1st enemy for a treasure
- Then, grab the key by the boat to finish the chapter
Save Point 8: Save you progress after the chapter completes.
Chapter 6
Estimated Time: 20-30 minutes
Storage Room & Construction Yard
- Collect the treasure on the right side of the storage room
- Next, pickup the yellow herb just outside the room
- Then, shoot the lantern hanging next to the elevator for another treasure before killing the enemies as they ride up
- If you still have the Blast Crossbow, sell it to the merchant
- Clear out the construction yard
- Then, shoot the silver lantern hanging from the crane and grab the treasure that drops
- If you haven’t already done so, buy the Stingray rifle when you reach the merchant and equip the Biosensor Scope for the regenerators coming up
Regenerators
- Clear out the 3 standard enemies in the 1st lab, but don’t bother with the regenerator in the tube
- At the top of the stairs, run counter-clockwise around the table to avoid the regenerator
- Next, in the dark area, don’t go in the room on the right
- Head into the small lab directly ahead and grab the treasure behind the glass in the cabinet
- Run into the freezer and grab the Power Unit, then make your way to the kitchen
- Then, collect the treasure in the small alcove on the right side of the kitchen
- The next room has 2 regenerators, either kill them, or stun and run past them
- When you reach the grapple point, you will be safe from the regenerators if they are chasing you
Gondola
- Before getting on the gondola, use the Stingray to snipe the 2 enemies that can be some from your current location
- On the way down the gondola, continue sniping enemies as quickly as you can, but don’t forget the rocket launcher enemy on the far left side
Save Point 9: Save you progress when you reach the merchant just before the open area with 2 laser turrets.
Turret Field
- Jump down into the field below, work your way left behind cover, then all the way to the right
- Next, grapple up to the ledge on the right and clear the enemies
- Walk up the stairs to the left and lure the enemies back to the bottom of the stairs where it’s safe to stand (pictured below)
- Then, move the automated turret and lure the next set of enemies back to the previous location
- Once they are dispatched, run past the tent with 3 more enemies, across the bridge, and move the next turret
- The turret will help with the enemies crossing the bridge, but you’ll need to cleanup the rest
- Now, head down to the bridge with the final turret and hide behind the sand bags on the left side
- Wait for the laser to point fully to the right, then run along the left side of the bridge and grapple to safely before jumping down the hole on the left
Communications Facility
- Shoot the silver lantern hanging above the window showing a green corridor for a treasure
- 1st Door Code: 116
- Run from the creature and turn the valve before ducking through the gap on the left
- 2nd Door Code: 906
- Then, grapple to safety
- Collect the treasure in a chest inside the 1st room on the left
- Avoid the lasers by ducking through the 1st 2 sets and pressing B/Circle on the 3rd set
- 3rd Door Code: 769
- After returning to the green corridors, be ready to press B/Circle for the 3 sets of lasers followed by RB/R1 to grapple through the final gap
Warning: Don’t save at the end of the chapter.
Chapter 7
Estimated Time: 10-15 minutes
- Work your way through the main path, using explosive barrels when available and shooting mines
- Next, dispatch the 3 enemies, including a brute on the elevator
- At the top, shoot the silver lantern for a treasure hanging just above the elevator exit and grab the yellow herb in front of you
- Then, kill the 1st enemy for a Barret
- Clear out the remaining enemies on the platform before collecting the treasure on the left/back
- Next, grab another treasure just after getting off the next elevator
Saddler Boss
- At the merchant, sell everything you don’t need (keep the Stingray and Biosensor Scope) and buy a Rocket Launcher
- Kill the 2 hidden bugs in the next hall
- Then, use the Rocket Launch to kill Saddler in 1-hit
- After defeating Saddler, use the typewriter in front of you for the final save
Save Point 10: Save you progress just before using the binoculars to locate the special rocket launcher.
Timed Sequence
- Grab the green herb as soon as you finish grappling into the timed sequence
- Hide behind the barrier on the left and take out the 3 enemies above
- Next, try to snipe 1 of the enemies below and to the right before continuing on
- After killing the shielded enemy, be careful to only shoot the next enemy without hitting the barrel behind it
- Then, move up and wait for the 2 brutes and minions to gather near the explosive barrel while you reduce the brutes’ health
- In the next segment, shoot the 2 rocket launcher enemies quickly
- Collect eh Special Rocket Launcher for Leon
- Move into the next area and back up to take out the bugs before handline the rocket launchers
- Switch to the Stingray and snipe all 3 rocket launcher enemies
- Next, grapple over and kill the group surrounding another brute
- Then, take the elevator and complete the game
