Welcome to the Resident Evil 4 puzzles guide for the 2023 remake. This guide will walk you through how to solve each of the puzzles in the game.

Stained Glass Puzzle
Once you enter the Church at the end of Chapter 4, head into the small corridor on the right and collect the Blue Dial from the cabinet. Now, head to the front of the chapel and flip the switch to the left of the pulpit which reveals the dials. After placing the Blue Dial, rotate each of the colors to create the following pattern. Start by rotating the Green Dial, followed by the Red Dial, and finishing with the Blue Dial. Line up the color patterns around the golden symbol in the middle of the circle.
Sword Puzzle
When you reach the Treasury in the Castle during Chapter 7, collect the 3 swords from the murals on the wall. Then, ring the bell on the east/left side of the room. Notice the images on the gate. You need to ring the bells for each image by shooting the Eagle (front, upper right), Stag (above the original bell), and Snake (back, upper right) gongs. The locations of the symbols will change when playing on Hardcore/Professional, but the animals remain the same. Once the gate opens, walk in and grab the Bloodied Sword.
Now return to the murals and place them in the following order (left to right): Iron Sword on the knight, Golden Sword on the king, Bloodied Sword in the battle, and Rusted Sword with the grave.
Lithographic Stones Puzzle
The 3 missing Lithographic Stones are found in the Bindery with the door puzzle during Chapter 8. Press A/X to break the glass for Lithographic Stone B in the corner of the room. The placement of the stones will shift while playing on Hardcore/Professional, but the solution to the puzzle remains the same. Place all 3 stones on the door, then move and flip the stones until they match the following:
- Top: Red Shield in Square
- Left: Red Helmet in Hexagon
- Right: Blue Sword in Square
- Bottom: Blue Armor in Hexagon
Dining Hall Puzzle
When you find the Dining Hall of the Castle in Chapter 9, ask Ashley to sit in the 2nd chair on the right and you take the last seat on the left. Then, ring the bell with A/X. Doing so will unlock the Serpent Head.
Clocks
There are 2 clocks in the Castle that you will encounter while playing Ashley at the end of Chapter 9. When playing on Assisted/Standard mode, set the clocks to 11:04. While playing on Hardcore/Professional, set them to 7:00.
Lantern Puzzle
When you reach the end of the Mausoleum during Chapter 9 with Ashley, place the lanterns around the structure to match the patterns on its walls. Place your starting lantern on the back pedestal that requires a full sphere or sun. Then place the new lantern on the 1st pedestal that shows a crescent moon on the wall. Finally, place the last lantern on the 3rd pedestal showing a star.
Here is the solution while moving clockwise around the structure.
- Crescent Moon – Found on 2nd pedestal (in the back) while going clockwise around the structure.
- Sun– Place the lantern you started with.
- Star – Found on the 1st pedestal while going clockwise around the structure.
Hedge Maze
When you exit the room at the start of Chapter 9, enter the hedge maze and ascend 3 towers to flip switches. Be careful while navigating the maze, since there are hounds scattered throughout and they may jump out from bushes in front of you. After flipping the 3rd switch, zealots will enter the maze and try taking Ashley, so be ready to quickly clear them out as you make your way back to her.
Dissection Power Puzzle
While navigating the Dissection area in Chapter 13, reactivate power to the east wing. Then, recalibrate power to the door which is blocking the Level 1 Keycard. Match the image below based on the difficulty level of the game.
Freezer Power Puzzle
In the Freezer during Chapter 13, solve the power calibration puzzle to access a side room containing the LE 5 SMG. Match the image below if you are playing on Assisted or Standard difficulty.
Waste Disposal Power Puzzle
While navigating the Waste Disposal area in Chapter 14, recalibrate power to the door after restoring power to the area as Ashley holds the bridge up. Match the image below based on the difficulty level of the game.
