Welcome to the DRG Survivor reset save workaround guide. The early access game may reset your save file. If this happens, the following guide will help recover some of your progress.
Refer to the Deep Rock Galactic Survivor Achievements Guide for a detailed walkthrough of all achievements in the game.
Note: The developers may patch the ability to modify the save data at some point in the future. Most games save progress in binary format. Fortunately, the dev team for DRG Survivor left the save file in readable text which may be modified. Since the game is in early access and is prone to bugs that reset progress, this guide should help for now.
Reset Save Workaround
While playing the original early access release of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, the power in my room went out. Once power was restored, I started the game up only to find that my progress had been completely reset. I was 12+ hours into the game, and had all achievements unlocked except for spending 20k gold. Needless to say, I wasn’t happy.
I quickly jumped to the game’s local data folder and was pleased to find that the early build saved the state in a text file that is easily modified with one exception. Depending on where you are on the path to unlocking specific classes and hazard levels, it is difficult to jump to where you need to be. Thus, this guide will show you how to skip some of the more mundane parts of the game to get you back on track.
Changing data not covered in this guide like player rank or class levels may have unintended results.
Locating the Save File
Backup your save before doing anything in this guide. If something goes wrong, you may need to restore the original state.
- Open File Explorer
- Navigate to the following directory where username is the shortened version of your windows login name
- C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\Funday Games\DRG Survivor
- Make a copy of drgs.dat as a backup
- Open drgs.dat in a text editor like Notepad
The Save File Format
The format of the data is essentially a long list of key/value pairs. The key is the name of the data field you are changing and the value is the current value assigned to it.
In the following example, the current upgrade modifier for Damage is set to Level 4.
{ "Id": "msu_damageMod", "Level": 4 },
Each field in the file is usually shown as one of the following types:
- Text – Use “quotation marks” before and after text fields
- Numbers – Simply use the number to denote a whole number
- Booleans – Booleans are either set to true or false
Adjusting Upgrades
The easiest section to alter is the first, labeled as MetaStatUpgrades. The are the current progression levels of each of the upgrade modifiers in the game. They can only be assigned values ranging from 0 to 12.
- msu_damageMod
- msu_moveSpeed
- msu_armor
- msu_xpGain
- msu_maxHp
- msu_critChance
- msu_reloadSpeed
- msu_miningSpeed
- msu_luck
- msu_pickupRadius
- msu_lifeRegen
- msu_critDamage
While I was playing the game, I recorded my upgrade progress after each run, so I was able to restore the progression state exactly where I left off. Do your best to guess where you were.
Resources
Another easy section to modify comes at the end of the file. It lists each of the resource types in the game and your current balance.
- Credits
- Bismor
- Croppa
- EnorPearl
- Jadiz
- Magnite
- Umanite
When updating these values, simply replace the default 0 next to each label with the number of the resource you had. In the following example the current number of credits is set to 5000 with 10 Bismor minerals in the inventory.
"Credits": 5000, "Bismor": 10,
Secondary Objectives
You likely had secondary objectives unlocked when your save file reset, so go ahead and change the false at the end of the file to true.
"SecondaryObjectivesUnlocked": true
Progressing Achievements
Most achievements will naturally unlock within a few hours after repairing part of your save progress. The following key/value pairs will help with a few of the specific ones that don’t require prerequisites and that don’t need to be completed in a single dive.
These can be found under the MileStoneStates heading after you have finished playing a dive. Search for the long Guid (ID). Then modify the Progress value as needed. The values shown below will put you right up against the edge to quickly unlock the achievements.

Hopefully those snippets will help restore enough of your save to let you enjoy the rest of the game. It’s unfortunate the developers released a bug that resets progression. They need a backup file.
That’s it for the DRG Survivor reset save workaround guide. Please post any questions or comments below. Thanks.
