Welcome to the Hogwarts Legacy challenges guide covering the challenges in the game. Challenges unlock items needed for the Collector’s Edition achievement/trophy.

Combat
Dark Wizards
Defeat a total of 240 Dark Wizards in bandit camps, dungeons, and lairs while playing through the game.
Dugbogs
Defeat a total of 35 Dugbogs in lairs while playing through the game.
Goblins
Defeat a total of 190 Goblins in bandit camps, dungeons, and lairs while playing through the game.
Inferi
Defeat a total of 66 Inferi in dungeons and lairs while playing through the game.
Infamous Foes
Defeat a total of 21 Infamous Foes (skull icon on map) while playing through the game.
Spiders
Defeat a total of 240 Spiders in dungeons and lairs while playing through the game.
Trolls
Defeat a total of 30 Trolls in bandit camps, dungeons, and lairs while playing through the game.
Mongrels
Defeat a total of 60 Mongrels in lairs while playing through the game.
Complete Duelling Feats
At the start of each battle, you will be given 1-3 duelling feats on the right side of the screen based on the enemies in the area. You will need to complete a total of 109 feats, so start paying attention to them early to avoid needing to farm them after you finish everything else.
Quests
Assignments
Finish all 12 assignments from the professors to unlock spells and complete these challenges. See the Hogwarts Legacy All Spells Guide for details.
Main Quests
Finish all main quests to unlock spells and complete these challenges, including the 2 given after the main story completes.
Side/Relationship Quests
Complete all 69 side and relationship quests to unlock the 4 quests related to them. Refer to the Hogwarts Legacy Achievement Guide for more details.
Exploration
Collect Ancient Magic Traces
Complete the 20 Ancient Magic Traces while exploring The Highlands by collecting 3 traces at each location. Using your broom helps speed up collecting most traces.
Pop Balloons
Pop all 5 balloons at each of the 32 locations around the map (not tracked by an icon) while riding your broom.
Landing Platforms
Land on all 20 Landing Platforms (not tracked on the map) while riding your broom in The Highlands.
Complete Merlin Trials
Solve 52 of the 95 of the Merlin Trials while exploring the Highlands in Hogwarts Legacy. Each trial falls into 1 of 9 categories, and casting Revelio near the trial will help identify which type of trial it is and where the required components are located.
Refer to the Hogwarts Legacy Merlin Trials Guide for details on where to find and how to solve all Merlin Trials.
- Basic Cast Puzzles: Use basic cast to destroy small spheres on top of pillars in sets of 3 or more around the are.
- Boulder Puzzles: When you see a large boulder or dish in the ground, cast Wingardium Leviosa or Depulso to move the boulder into the dish where it will rest.
- Confringo Puzzles: Use Confringo to destroy thick, large pillars in the area.
- Firefly Puzzles: Cast Lucio to guide fireflies to each of 3 resting points.
- Flipendo Puzzles: Use Flipendo to rotate cubes with symbols to exactly match the symbols (including rotation) on the pillars below them.
- Jumping Puzzles: Jump from stone to stone without touching the ground. You can also use your broomstick to make these easier.
- Pyre Puzzles: Light a series of pyres around the area with Confringo.
- Reparo Puzzles: Cast Reparo when you see broken statues near the trial.
- Stone Puzzles: Use Accio to pull 5 stones to the resting spots 3 times.
Find Astronomy Tables
There are a total of 15 Astronomy Tables spread throughout The Highlands. They are indicated by a moon icon on the map. Approach each table at night and rotate or zoom in/out to align the stars with the constellation.
Solve Hogwarts Secrets
There are 3 secrets in Hogwarts needed for this challenge. One is located in the Clock Tower and requires Arresto Momentum to freeze the clock on symbols that open a series of doors. Another is located on a bridge where you need to rotate number under pyres to match a disc on the surface of the bridge, then light the pyres.
The final secret requires a key found above the Headmaster’s Study (see Room with a View in the Hogwarts Legacy Achievement Guide for details on how to reach the top room). Once you have the key head to the locked door one floor below the study.
Field Guide Pages
150 of the 180 Field Guide Pages needed for these challenges are gathered while collecting Revelio Pages. So, you will only need 30 more Field Guide Pages from flying books, moth frames, Levioso statues, and pyres.
Hogsmeade
Collect a total of 50 Field Guide Pages while exploring in Hogsmeade.
Hogwarts
Collect a total of 100 Field Guide Pages while exploring in Hogwarts.
Highlands
Collect a total of 30 Field Guide Pages while exploring in The Highlands.
Room of Requirement
Breed Unique Beasts
Use the Vivarium breeding pens to breed 10 different beast types.
Rescue Beasts
While exploring the world and passing by beast locations, stop off and catch a few beasts. Then, sell the extra beasts in Hogsmeade. Once you have collected a total of 60, the challenge will be complete.
Upgrade Your Gear
Collect upgrade materials from the beasts in your Vivariums then use them to upgrade gear. By upgrading all gear once before selling to a vendor for cash, you can quickly max out the 30 upgrades needed for these challenges.
